Upgrade DPM 2012 SP1 evaluation to full DPM? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everyone,

I have installed Microsoft System Center 2012 Data Protection Manager SP1 version:4.1.3417.0 (Evaluation Version).

It says that the evaluation version of Data Protection Manager will expire in xx days. I would like to upgrade to full version, keeping the current configuration.

How can I do that? Do I need serial number, or new installation media?

  • Hi,

You will need the full retail installation media along with the product key.  Since you already have a rollup installed, you will need to make a backup of the DPMDB (dpmbackup -db) - un-install DPM and retain replica, re-install DPM using retail media, apply same UR3 update, then restore the DPM Database so you maintain your configuration settings and recovery points.
