"Your timesheet has been sent to..." is misleading RRS feed

  • Question

  • When a resource submits a timesheet, and their timesheet has tasks that require status manager approval, why does the yellow banner state "Your timesheet has been sent to <TimesheetManager> for approval"

Surely this can be misleading? Especially when they look straight after they submitted their timesheet - it makes them think the Timesheet Manager has something to approve, but first there are status updates for approval with status managers...

  • Hi,

Not sure if this message appears based on a certain configuration...

But just in case, if you didn't activate the "require line approval before timesheet approval", the timesheet will go at the time both to the timesheet manager AND the status update approver, which can explain your message.

  • I agree that such message is very misleading. Team members are usually confused by this and contact their timesheet manager for approval but that's usually pending approval first from status manager.

p/s: We have Fixed Approval routing and checked "require line approval before timesheet approval"

  • I agree, it should be adressed through change management, training and communication. Anyway, this message has a logic signification, meaning that the timesheet will in any case go to the timesheet manager for approval. Since this is a formal approval which can trigger HR processes, this information can be relevant.
