How to change crawling status from stopping to idle RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am using MOSS 2007. My SharePoint Search is not working. Last week I had stopped crawling under Shared Services Administration > Search Administration > Content sources > Manage Content Sources > Local Office SharePoint Server Sites. But still it is showing me "stopping " status. All the options are also disabled except "Edit" and "View Crawl Log".

I have also run the command Stsadm -o spsearch -action fullcrawlstart but it is giving me an error 'fullcrawlstart' action failed. Additional information:Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

can anyone let me know how can I change the crawling status from "stopping" to "idle".

    Thanks,
    Sam.

  • Please confirm if the "Windows SharePoint Services Help Search" service is running.

For stopping crawling you should use following comand on Index servers

    Stsadm-o spsearch-action fullcrawlstop

Let me know how it goes
