Removing attributes in Word RRS feed

  • Question

  • Gentlemen:

My desktop hard drive failed so I copied my Word documnents back to

    an new hard drive.

The documents copied from backup are read only and will not allow me to

save them or create a new document. Since this is my business computer, it is

    a major problem. I have tried c:>attrib -r -s "c:\program files\microsoft office\word docs"

without success. This command has worked successfully in the past.

Any suggestions? Files remain "locked" and will not allow editing.

    Thank you.

  • What is the exact message shown when you try to access the documents?

Note that if Word can't create or open documents, the reason might be that it hasn't been properly activated.
