my ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Motherboard: True UEFI or not the real thing?

    Question

  • I'd like to increase boot speed with my Asus Sabertooth 990FX R1.

My bios claims UEFI capability and I did boot [UEFI: Windows PE] from a USB flash drive, and I'm validated for MBR2GPT.
But I don't see any settings for Secure Mode ON/OFF or Boot Mode.

In light of this is it a waste of my time to convert my SSD to GPT ?

Answers

  • Open Run, type MSInfo32 and hit Enter to open System Information, if your PC uses BIOS, it will display Legacy. If it is using UEFI, it will display UEFI.

  • My computer spends more time in the BIOS than starting Windows 10. Bummer. I think I was bamboozled by ASUS marketing. The computer is old now but it is still pretty fast and reliable. I'm keeping it.
