MCITP EMA 2010 only two exams? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
    Am i missing something?
I have completly done with 662 and 663. And was very surprised when see in my transcript - Enterprise Messaging Administrator 2010

So first question is is it right? Or may be some mistake...
And if this is not mistake why what was the reason for decrease numbers for exams for EMA 2010?

Think that exams about design was most demonstrative for EMA 2007. And it must exist for 2010.

  • Hi,

Nothing is wrong, no mistake, there are only two exams in MCITP EMA 2010, Thats also the reason there is no upgrade exam.

Some of the organisation and site design was added to the two remaining exams,
but I agree with you that it was better when it was a separate exam, a solid design is of the most importance when
deploying Exchange and I really think they dropped the ball by removing a lot of the design knowledge and spreading
the remaining between the two exams that are left.

  • it's strange and very very pity...
Also found some info about this here:
    http://borntolearn.mslearn.net/2010/01/a-quick-look-ahead-to-2010-certification

"There are several factors that affect whether an upgrade exam is created. The largest one is if it will really save you time. In this case the Exchange 2010 track is only 2 exams long. An upgrade exam would also mean creating upgrade courses, e-learning, books, etc. All of this, in addition to the overwhelming popularity of Exchange 2003, means that a 2007 to 2010 upgrade exam doesn’t make sense."

    and here from exchange team:

So... i must be happy with EMA 2010 but i'm not :(.

  • I agree, it should have remained at 3 exams and an upgrade exam for existing MCTS/MCITP on 2007 should exist. Personally after having taken both tests I think there is a lot left to test on and I think the exams don't test folks with 2007 certs enough on 2010 specific items to ensure they "know it".
