Exchange 2003 consistency check failing with error 2033 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey guys,

I've been backing up my Exchange 2003 mailbox store with a DPM 2007 for a long time now. Yesterday the exchange crashed and the replica became inconsistent.

Now I get error 2033 insufficient system resources for operation....0x800705AA (the original mesage is in German, that's why I don't cite it ;))

If I delete the replica the database gets backed up one time without problems and the next backup is failing again with the message above. I read a lot about increasing pagefile on the DPM server and made a change from 12GB to 30GB but that didn't help my backup :(.

    Any advice is appreciated.
The exchange is an 2003 x86 with 4 GB RAM. The DPM is 2008 x64 with 8GB RAM and now 30GB pagefile.

    Thanks,

    Michael

  • It seems like the raise of PoolUsageMaximum via registry did do the trick. The Backup is working again.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Michael,

Check if you are hitting any VolSnap issues, mentioned in the below KBs, on the Exchange Server?

  • Hi Nagesh,

the eventlog on the exchange server are "clean".  There are no warnings or errors concerning any vss or volsnap errors. It only says that the shadow copy instance was created successfully...

I'll look further into the KB's you mentioned tomorrow.

    thanks,

    Michael

  • Hi again,

I checked all logs and the KB's. The only one that might be fitting is KB 304101 although I don't see any error messages on my exchange server. It's strange also that it has been working for a long time and after a server crash now there should be not enough memory?

I'll try the resolution for the KB tomorrow because of the restart. Hope that helps.

    regards,

    Michael
