Remote Desktop connection cannot verify that the two computers belong to same farm RRS feed

  • Question

  • Getting a strange issue today in my Windows 2008 R2 Farm. I currently use DNS round robin and have entries for the farm name and sever names in DNS. A user gets the message when opening an application 'This computer can't connect to the remote computer. The remote computer <farm name> that you are trying to connect to is redirecting you to the remote computer <server name> Remote Desktop connection cannot verify that the two computers belong to same farm. This can occur if there is another computer on your network with the same name.

I am not getting this error and other users have not reported it yet. Any ideas what is wrong ? I have verified that DNS is all ok.

  • Hello Amit,

Do you mean that only specific user receive this error when using the farm name of the DNS Round Robin?

If so, please consider to clean the DNS cache of the involved user by the following command-line:

    Ipconfig /flushdns

And then check if the issue get resolved. Thanks.
