Microsoft Debug Diagnostics Tool Log Retention Query


  • Hi,

    We have installed Debug Diagnostics tool (1.2) on our Windows Sever 2008 R2 Standard and there are a large number of logs getting created for a particular rule type. On one server the logs get retained only for 30 days however on the other server logs are retained from the beginning of installation. Could you please let me know the setting to retain logs only for 30 days for a particular rule type or Server.

    Based on my research, the log size limit can be set by the "max userdump limit" and "Full Userdump and Mini Userdump", The DebugDiag UI keeps a count of the number of userdumps generated. In the default crash rule that was added in the earlier scenario, there is a limit of 10 userdumps that the rule could create. DebugDiag imposes this limit so that the hard disk drive does not run out of space.
