SCSM 2016 workflow triggered to send notification email for old/closed requests RRS feed

  • We suddenly have 11,000 instances of workflow instances that's scheduled to run. 

    These instances are for sending notification to affected users when they raise a service request. 

    The issue is, these instances are for service requests that are already closed and more than 1 year old! The workflow suddenly triggered to send email related to closed/old SR.

    Does anyone know what might cause this "spamming" like behavior of SCSM? We have 2016 version and I had to disable the subscription so that email will stop sending at once since ignoring more than 10k instances is not feasible.

    Any had this issue before?

  • The notification workflows in SCSM basically are related to update/create events configured with criteria.

    If a criteria of a notification workflow is met it will be fired.

    Please check which workflow is triggered and verify the configured the criteria of the notification workflow.
