Making ADRMS the default office template RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello House;

    I have configured a working ADRMS server 2012 and the policy template distribution is working and all is going fine.

    I want to do an enhancement whereby all documents (Word, Excel etc) created in my domain will have an ADRMS template (eg "Internal Use") securing the document, it should work in such a way where by every documents created, without specifying a template to use in securing the document it should use the "Internal Use" template as the default but the user can decide to use other available template to secure other documents.

    Please I will be glad if this solution can be shared via email to <aghedo.francis@yahoo.com>

    Thank you

  • Hi,

    For that you may want to use the ADRMS successor - Azure Information Protection with automatic classification, labeling and protection: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/information-protection/get-started/faqs-infoprotect

    Or with ADRMS you can

    1. either use some part of AIP (Secure Island autoclassification and protection features but not with Azure RMS but with AD RMS) - not sure if such hybrid would work for your scenario

    2. use 3rd party solutions (i.e. RightsWatch)

    3. configure FCI and/or SharePoint so every file saved to the designated folder (or SharePoint library) will be get protected - most common scenarios, but would not apply to all documents produced by users
