Server Management via WSUS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have got around 40 servers which have been not patched from quite some time now, which were been patched manually on and off.  Now we have deployed WSUS in our environment.  Some servers require 80 updates, some require 22, some 16 some 20 and so on.  I am thinking to patch them manually before I apply the WSUS GPO and manage them via WSUS?  How do you tackle such scenarios?  What will be the best approach here?

    Thank you

  • Hi,

If you are ready to introduce WSUS as an updated approval management, you can consider using WSUS to complete the approval of these updates. Since the number of updates required by different devices is different, I recommend setting them to allow clients to directly access Microsoft Update downloads, provided that the clients have access to the Internet.

If you let the client update directly through Windows Update, this may require too much manual work by the IT administrator.

The above is my suggestion, hope the above can help you.

    Regards,
    Yic
