Resource Availability functionality in MSPS 2010 is retrieving its data RRS feed

  • Question

  • I’m an administrator for MSPS 2010, and I’m trying to figure out how the Resource Availability functionality in MSPS 2010 is retrieving its data. You can see below the capacity for one of our resources:

But if you look at the resource’s timesheet for this period, the planned hours show differently:

With that being said, does the Remaining Availability not calculate its data using the resource’s planned hours for each project? If this is the case, how is it getting these numbers? Is this data can I trust? etc…

  • Mark,

The Resource Capacity for any period = Resource Max Units * No. of working hours for that period.

There by remaining availability = Capacity- All planned work.( This includes all project+admin+non-working time)

    Hope this clarifies.

  • Mark,

The timesheet only includes committed assignments. However, you have Include Proposed Bookings selected in the Resource Availability page. Uncheck that box, refresh and see if the numbers match.
