unable to access index for MRAN repository RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I try to install a package, I get the error message:

Warning: unable to access index for repository https://mran.microsoft.com/snapshot/2019-07-05/src/contrib:
      cannot open URL 'https://mran.microsoft.com/snapshot/2019-07-05/src/contrib/PACKAGES'

When I visit that URL (https://mran.microsoft.com/snapshot/2019-07-05/src/contrib/PACKAGES') in my browser, I get a message that my connection is not private: NET::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID

Is the certificate up to date?

  • I am also getting this warning, although the certificate appears to be working now.  What is happening with MRAN?

  • I'm getting the message, but as an ERROR. Also, going to the URL gives `The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.`

  • Yeah, it is working again. Thanks to whoever fixed it !! Wonder what happened though and hoping it is not an intermittent problem. Important to know since our production builds depend on mran snapshots

  • Well, it looks like they have done it again:

Warning: unable to access index for repository https://mran.microsoft.com/snapshot/2020-07-16/src/contrib:
      cannot open URL 'https://mran.microsoft.com/snapshot/2020-07-16/src/contrib/PACKAGES'

    https://mran.microsoft.com/snapshot/2020-07-16/src/contrib/PACKAGES gives a 404 Not Found error.

Whats the point of all the hoopla about the snapshots if Microsoft with its gazillion employees can't keep the thing working?

  • Same here, bumping this thread to attract attention to this problem!
Hopefully, Microsoft engineers get it fixed in foreseeable future.
