Keyword Search behaviour in fast search for sharepoint 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Finding way to achieve the below .

The search keyword heart-Disease gets the results for “heart disease” OR heart and disease separated by any word breaker. Eg: heart-Disease, heart&Disease etc.

Is there any way in FS4SP, by which if we search for heart-disease, pages having heartdisease (joined words) should also be returned as search result and vice versa.

  • How about setting up a two-way synonym? Add a keyword for 'heart-disease' and create a two-way synonym for 'heartdisease'. This should mean your results set will include results for both terms regardless of which term is searched for.

Hope I have understood correctly and that that helps.

  • Agree with Ceej on using synonym as a workaround, but wanted to point out special characters e.g "-" gets stripped off from the query and thus the results for "heart disease"

  • Hi ,

The content getting crawled is dynamic so we can’t get the words placed as synonyms before.

For doing so while crawling we need to scrutinize the content while crawling and need to find the words with word breaker at the backend.

This will impact the crawling time a lot.

Under %FASTSEARCH%\etc\tokenizer, we have “tokenization.xml” file.

Is there any configuration which can be updated to achieve the above requirement?
