  • First create a duplictae site for this new project

Once site site created use Edit Site address option to point to other site

  • Hi John,

what you did should normally work.....

If the site would still be in use with the other project, you would have received a different error message. Are you sure regarding the URL? Did you use the "check url" in the "edit site address"?

  • Hi John,

Has this site been modified away from the template that was used to create it? See this post:

  • Project Name : IT_TRS

    WebSite Name : http://epm/PWA/ITM/TRS

Save project locally on desktop with the name of "IT2_TRS" and import it without site.

I delete the link of the site of "IT_TRS" from "Operational Policies" ---> "Project Site" option of Server Settings.

and now Add this site link with the project "IT2_TRS" "Operational Policies" ---> "Project Site" ----> "Edit Site Address".

Thats why this dialog box appearing

  • Hi John,

the http://epm/pwa/itm/trs does not correspond to the other URLs in your screenshot. Did you try using the IP adress like in the other Projects?

Is http://10.80.0.164 the Default public URL of the application and http://epm/pwa is a private URL defined in Alternate Access Mappings?

  • Hi John,

If you delete the link of original project ( from PWA-->Server Settings-->Project Sites), it actually deletes the project site (not just the link). So, there is no site existing in the content database.

    Check the following:

    1. In PWA, on the top left side, click on Site Actions--> View all site content.  Under Sites and Workspaces, check whether the site that you deleted is available.

    2. Try browsing the site that you are trying to link, you get http 404 error.

    3. Also, try querying the content database. (Select * from webs where fullurl like '%IT_TRS%' ) and check if it returns any row with the site that you deleted.

To restore the deleted workspace, you can follow the KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/963124 . This is for 2007, but also holds good for 2010.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Laksh

  • John said that he deleted the link - not the site.

If he wrote was he meant, he removed the link to the site from within "edit site address". In this case the site should still exist.

If the site is really deleted he should be able to recover it from the second stage recycle bin.
