Dpmfilterbitmap filling up drive RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Exchange 2007 CCR cluster and on one node I have 30 GB of "DpmFilterBitmap{9EB----}" - files.

Oldest is from 2014-11-16 and on the other node the oldest is the retention of the backup ie 60 days.

How can I remove the dpmfilterbitmap-files from the node that has to many files?

  • Hi,

I confirmed with Mike about your concern. You will need to run a consistency check after deleting the dpmfilter files - but the exchange backups will be good after that.

  • Hi,

It seems that you have already found the steps provided by Mike Jacquet.

The key steps is to unload DPM filter before deleting so it is actually the same if we are going to delete these files from a cluster.

Here is another thread which is for cluster. It is still the same process - unload, use psexec to run CMD as SYSTEM, manually delete files start with DPMFilter and load DPM filter. Please see detailed steps here:

  • Removing DPM filter and deleting the files wont affect our Exchange backup in any way?

Could there be problem with inconsistent backups due to missing logs or something like that?
