Going to put RC2 (5744) on a custom built PC, any pointers/gotchas RRS feed

  • First time I have built a PC.

    ASUS P5N32-SLI Premium Wifi Motherboard

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 processor a 2.66mhz

    eVGA 7950GT (Nvidia) Video Card

    2GB of Kingston Memory

    2 HDD 1 is 74GB 10,000RPM Sata for the OS and 1 is 500GB 7,200RPM Sata for Data


    Any pointers? Anything tricky loading Vista onto this? Drivers, etc.

    With the Asus boards sometimes they will give you trouble like mine does at first.... You may have trouble with the SLI Video card/s. If so install Vista w/ a PCI/AGP card if needed the put in the SLI card... RC2 seemed to have less of a problem doing this.. Also do you have the 2 HDD as Raid if so Radi 0/1/0+1 ? You will need the driver CD during installation.. I think that is about it let us know how it goes... I hope I covered all the Asus problems I can remember...

    Oh! yeah make sure you have the most recent bios for the MB.

  • Make sure the ACPI 2.0 is enabled in the BIOS if it is an option. I just went through a major headache trying to figure out why my Asus system(P5L-VM 1394) was crashing under Vista.
