Event ID 8, app log error, source MSExchange Configuration Cmdlet - Remote Management RRS feed

  • Question

  • I get an event ID 8 error in my applicaton log at some point during most occasions when I back up my information stores using Backup Exec 2010 on my Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition server, which is backing up itself.  The source is MSExchange Configuration Cmdlet - Remote Management. This does not seem to impair Backup Exec's ability to back up the info stores--the backup jobs complete successfully and are available for restore.  Still, I wonder why I'm getting this error and if there's something I need to fix or reconfigure.  Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

This occurs only once, on boot, and ActiveSync is working well with multiple mobile devices, so I'm inclined to ignore this one.  The article you reference says this is OK as long as the event is infrequent.

    Event ID 2152 :  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb218436(EXCHG.80).aspx

The RPC service is running, and started automatically on boot.  There are no firewalls blocking anything on this system.

    Event ID 2105,2106 :  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb218112(EXCHG.80).aspx

Looking at the greater context, this warning seems to be premature since about one second later the service finds all the DC's and starts successfully.   Incidentally, the system running Exchange Server is also a DC, GC, and DNS server.

Event ID 4098 : have you Deleted the Default databses which comes with exhcnage 2010 ?

No, I don't think so.  I migrated mailboxes and public folders from the databases on the old Exchange 2003 Server to the databases on the Exhange 2010 Server, but I think I just used the databases that were automatically created when I installed Exchange 2010.

Event ID 5020: Have you decomissioned all the exchnage 2003 and 2007 servers from your org ? Were they de comitioned using the Microsofts practises
    Event ID 9320 : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb217859(EXCHG.80).aspx

Yes, I decommissioned the Exchange 2003 server (there was only one, and no 2007 servers) using Microsoft's procedures here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb288905(EXCHG.80).aspx and here: http://www.msexchange.org/articles-tutorials/exchange-server-2007/migration-deployment/removing-last-exchange-2003-server-exchange-2007-part1.html

  • Hi,

For event ID 8: MSExchange Configuration Cmdlet - Remote Management, it just seems like:

When you call the cmdlet "Get-User", and then Ctrl+C stop the pipeline before finish. This cause PipelineStoppedException.

I cannot find any information about the error associate with Backup Exec 2010.
