App-V 4.6 client for RDS crashes, service wont start anymore RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

    I have the following situation.

    We are running App-V 4.6 for RDS on Windows 2008 R2 with Citrix XenApp 6.
    In one month , on two different servers the App-V client service crashed and couldnt start anymore.

    It starts with the following error:

    Error: 4604EE8-13F02C0A-00000008, cant connect to App-V management server

    When we want to restart the Application Virtualization Client within the Services.msc, we get an error that the service couldnt start due missing DLL's.

    The following errors are displayed in the client log when we want to start the service:

    [02/17/2011 05:03:56:001 ???? INF] {tid=1134}
    App-V filter loaded.

    [02/17/2011 05:03:56:016 VSCM INF] {tid=1134}
    Starting Virtual Service Control Manager.

    [02/17/2011 05:03:56:952 JGSW CRT] {tid=1134}
    Initialization of the Application Virtualization file system security failed (status 16D13C0A-0000E016).

    [02/17/2011 05:03:57:030 INTF CRT] {tid=1134}
    Client core could not be initialized (rc 16D13C0A-0000E016)

    Even when we reboot the server, the client service wont start anymore.
    When i try to reinstall the client, it installs...but at the end of the install process it performs a rollback action. Also some WMI errors apear in the eventlog.
    After rebuilding the WMI repository, i am able to install the client, and i can use it again.

    Anyone has an idea, why the client service on my XenApp server gets corrupted?

  • Hello,

    Usually - once an Antivirus have crashed an App-V client its very common that it requires a reinstallation of the App-V client to have it functional again
