PAS and PDS - 6.3 (ProClarity) RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have the following configuations:

    Server 1: PDS 6.0.147.700 and PAS 6.2.204.204

    Server 2: PDS 6.0.147.700 and PAS 6.0.149.501

We would like to upgrade the servers to PAS 6.3. Where can I find instructions on how to do this?

  • I do not think that anything have changed regarding beriefing books between these versions you have mentioned.

Look for PDF-files on the installation CD. I am sure that they are there.

ProClarity 6.3 is a MS product so the support for this version should be MS. Do not expect to much because ProClarity is being integrated with Performance Point.

  • You will find instructions for that in the installation files, usually pdf.

What you do is start with uninstalling the old versions of ProClarity(PDS and PAS) but keep the database for PAS.

After that you install the new versions and connect PAS to the database. I do not think that you can upgrade PDS because it has been redesigned totally. You will have to build new dashboards.

PDS 6.3 is tricky so read the instructions carefully.

  • Let me start with a even more basic question: Will PAS 6.3 be able to open libraries with briefing books that point to cubes that were created using SQL 2000 Analysis Services?

I can't find any instructions on the install disk for PAS 6.3 about installing or upgrading.

Also, should my primary means of support be through microsoft or through ProClarity Tech support

http://www.proclarity.com/services/online_support.asp that I have been using for years?

    Thanks,

    Linda

  • What does this mean?

Is PAS 6.3 going away to be replaced by Performance Point?

  • Yes PAS 6.3 will be replaced with Performance Point but ProClarity Analytics 6.3 will be available for some years further.

ProClarity Analytics 6.3 is the last version of that product. After that ProClarity is a part of Performance Point Analytics.

Since the release of ProClarity Analytics 6.1 the upgrades of this product have been about integration with Analysis Services 2005.

  • Thomas,

I found the set-up guides. I do have a quick question. It says not to install PAS and AS on the same machine unless it is in a test environment. Is this because of security or is there some other reason? We plan on putting them on same machine.

  • This must be related to security issues. Most of my clients run both applications on the same box.

If you only have internal users I do not think that security will be an issue.
