Project 2010 Crash c0000005 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I'm having issues with opening a MS Project 2010 file. It is being accessed via Internet Explorer from a MS Project 2010 Server. The file opens fine in IE; however, when the file is opened on the local computer with the local version of Project 2010 SP1 the program crashes and receive the following error below. Additionally, this only happens with one file.

**Edit: I tested the application under the same username on a different computer with no issues. Additionally, the software has SP1 and is fully up-to-date for patches. I appreciate you helping, do you have another suggestion?

  • Try clearing affected project plan from your local cache. Also make sure that on your affected system , service pack and patches are similar as working system.

  • Binary Light Saber,

When you open the project plan via PWA, data is fetched from Published database and when project pro uses draft database. Since project is not opening in Pro, issue is related to draft copy of the project  plan.

Project application crashing has to scenarios associated while opening or saving\publishing. Since you have observed that issue occurring with 1 project plan it could be related to bad data or corruption in the project plan.

Above crash dump info is helpful to Microsoft to track crashing issue. So make sure that every time application crashes , click on send info to Microsoft button.

We need to isolate the issue if it's system or user specific. Try opening this project plan from different computer with your account as well as another account.
