I have a VM template in VM 2012 SP1. The template includes an OS Profile which uses the Identity Information field to automatically allocate a computer name with a prefix followed by the next available number. When a user requests a new VM in the Service
Manager Portal, the "Name of the VM" is a mandatory field. This results in a mismatch between the VM name and the Computer name in Active Directory which is rather confusing for administrators.
How do I get both to match? Given that the OS Profile will always create a unique computer object name which will match corporate naming standards, it would be preferable to be able to leave the VM name blank in SM Portal's Request Virtual Machine form.
