He adamantly does not want the water mark to fill the back ground of the whole page.

He wants it to appear only in the left hand quadrant of an invoice form he had me build for him.

So, go into the header. Select the Watermark. Using your mouse, move it to where you want it the same as you would with any other graphical element.

If you want to be able to re-use this in other documents, select it, press Alt+F3, save it as a Watermark Building Block.

  • Watermarks

In its basic form, a watermark in Word is a (faded, semi-transparent) image (may be WordArt) positioned to be behind text.

Since it is an image, you can move it around, position it,  set wrapping, or resize it using the tools for images.

If it is to appear on multiple pages it is placed in a header. That is where Word places it if you use the Watermark button.

  • Charles, thank you sincerely for your reply.

I am familiar with what a watermark is and how to get it to apply on one or multiple pages.

My quandary is how to get the water mark to appear on a specific area of the page.

For example, the lower left hand quadrant of a form I created for my employer.

    Thank you most gratefully,

    Freida, The Artful F.R.O.G.

  • Hello and thank you George for your assistance and the link. I begin to wish I were a techno geek instead of an artist.

What I need to find out is how to put the watermark in the lower left hand quadrant of a form I created for my very excessively micro management persnickety boss.

He adamantly does not want the water mark to fill the back ground of the whole page.

He wants it to appear only in the left hand quadrant of an invoice form he had me build for him.

    Thank you most sincerely,

    Freida, the Artful F.R.O.G.

  • If it's a graphical object you're using as a custom watermark, you could just open the header, then use Insert|Picture, select the relevant graphic, then resize & drag it to where you want it to appear.

  • Go into the header (edit header) that holds the watermark.

Move your mouse pointer to hover over the watermark.

That should give you the image tool which will let you move the image. When that is showing, you can click-drag the image where you want it. When you have the image selected, you can also resize it if needed.
