assign / install applications to user or their machine in SCCM 2012? RRS feed

  • Hello all

    Silly question perhaps but is it best to assign / install application to a user or the machine they use?

  • This is entirely up to you. If you target Applications to Users then they will follow the user on every device which they use. This obviously doesn't happen when you do a device based deployment.

    Just remember that there are things like Sofware Updates and Task Sequences, which you can't target to users.

    It all depends on you and your environment. If you deploy an application to user, when the user acquires a new computer, you can automatically install the user’s application on the new machine before the user logs on (deploy to devices are not supported).
