user can't take ownership with full control. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Any one know why a user (domain user only) who is a user on a PC but has [Full Control] permissions on a file would not be allowed to take ownership of that file, or folder, on their home drive.

The home drive is a mapped drive on a remote server.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I assume the file is not in root of a shared folder.

For example, the file location is \\server\public\folder\file.txt, while the Public is a shared folder.

If it is the same as your current situation, share the Folder folder and give permission to the user, then direct access the file with \\server\folder\file.txt and try to take ownership of the file again.
