  • Hi,

Why you want to create your own version numbers?

There is no easy way to do this in programatically set the version number. Instead you can create new column and store version number whatever you want in this.

  • Hi,

I am bit confused here. Do you want to update the column version or Item version? Sharepoint does not supports column level versioning. Now if you want to update the item level versioning then you can enable the list versioning.

List settings-->Versioning settings--->"Create a version each time you edit an item in this list?" option should be YES.

    Hope it will help
