Partitions RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Need help regarding how to create partitions on Windows 7 Embedded platform, Beckhoff industrial PC.

Need to understand how to correctly define partitions  on CFast card (C for system and D for customer data). Currently installed Windows on C disk and system not allowed to create partition, options (shrink/create through Diskpart are hidden or appears message that not allowed. At present it is possible to create partition using laptop. When it is done it is possible by normal way on laptop to write data on C and D disks , but when install Cfast card back to industrial PC platform see D disk as system disk. Not possible to assign volume/format and do other activities even if EWF (Enhanced Write Filter) is off . Filter is disabled.

The question is how to open options to create new partition or how to define D disk instead of system disk? Any idea?

    Beforehand thank you.

  • Are you installing WES7 on the system? if so you should be able to setup partition during OS installation.

If bitlocker is enabled, the optional boot partition will want to be created, which will want to create small 300 to 500mb boot partition, which is a system partition. Maybe the issue is the need for a small boot partition is confusing the D partition as OS partition.
