active directory planning for both local and aws based, cross region RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • We are a Software Development company that spans different countries, i.e.

    Singapore
    Indonesia
    Vietnam
In each of our office, we have our own server to provide things like Shared Drives. All these offices have a common development environment in Amazon.

We hope to have AD spanning across:
    Our Offices
    Amazon Environment

    Our Requirements
Well, so how do we go about planning the AD so that we can effectively:
    Secure our shared folders
    Handle apps/folder permissions
We should also bear in mind that inter-office connections can be SLOW…. So AD replication across geographical boundaries can be slow.

We need some help planning this setup and how to design, what to use etc. Any link to step by step will be appreciated, or any amazon quick start guide to implement the setup. We are also open to alternative idea like mixing Azure or more local setup, setting up secured shared folder per users per domain, restricting/permitting access to other domain/forest etc.
