Source Hierarchy mapping to target site RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I'm trying to understand the difference in source mapping when you migrate to SCCM 2012. What difference does it make which Primary Site in SCCM2012 I choose to migrate to. Collection and packages are replicated in the hierarchy anyway.

Is it only for assigning DP's to the right target site? Something else I'm missing in the concept?

    Regards

  • Hi Ulf,

In many scenarios you handle centrally managed applications for instance in the Central site, but you manage regional applications in the different Primary sites, then you would need to connect to all primary sites to gather both Packages/advertisements/collections e.t.c. Configuraiton Information is only replicated from the central site down the hierarchy in SCCM 2007.

The same goes for collections you could use direct membership which is assgined in the different Primary sites and not the central site.

So I would say it totally depends on how your sccm 2007 source design looks like and where you do the management of it.

    I hope that helps
