Windows 10 RDP to Server 2008 R2 Errors

    Question

  • Trying to RDP from new Windows 10 through firewall to Server 2008 R2. Credentials dont stick. Error "Computer cannot connect to the remote computer because a security package error occurred in the transport layer.....

When setting up new RDP icon on Windows 10 machine, it goes through the first time, then generates the error every time afterward.

If I select edit on the icon then select connect, it issues the error message, if I then hit OK and then connect again, it goes through fine.

I want to be able to double click the desktop icon and have it go through without error and all the running around.

Works fine with older Windows 7 machines. Looking at upgrading 200+ machines to Windows 10 and cant deal with that many problems.

  • Hi,

On Windows 10, delete existing credentials and try to re-connect again to check the result:
    1. Open Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Credential Manager.
    2. Select Windows Credentials.
    3. Delete all stored credentials(you may back up credentials first before deleting them).

Try to establish remote desktop connection again to check the result.

If problem persists, I want to confirm with you if RDS has been deployed on your environment to provide the remote desktop function? If so, which RDS server role has been installed?
