UAG DirectAccess vs Direct Access RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've currently got a Direct Access server up and running...however most of our machines are Win7 Prof, not Ultimate or Enterprise.

I've looked at UAG a bit but can't find a definitive answer on how it works with non-ultimate/enterprise clients. Does it function the same as regular Direct Access (end user doesn't need to do anything) or would the UAG act as an SSL VPN that would require extra steps for users to access resources?

What I'm taking form some of the various things I've read is that it would be the 2nd option...but I'm really not sure.

Any answers or material that can point me in right direction would greatly be appreciated.

  • Hi,

Requirements concerning DirectAccess are the same in both scenarios : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee382305(WS.10).aspx

Windows 7 Enterprise or ultimate are mandatory. UAG provides alternate scenarios based on SSTP and Portal but does not rely on DirectAccess.

    Have a nice day.
