Registry access on SharePoint development machine RRS feed

  • Question

  • What will happen if my developer has "restricted" access to registry on their SharePoint 2007 development machine?

Our Windows admin team wants to restrict registry access to developers on these machines. Our developers don't use registry to keep any value. Does SharePoint need read/write to registry? Is there any article detailing this topic?

  • Hi Justin,

As far as development is concerened, normally you don't need to use any registry.

  • Hi J Justin,

Registry are generally used in configuration and deployment. You can go through the following article, see if the development will refer to any of the registry there:

    Thanks & Regards,
