Finding the project name of a workflow approval when it was set up without one... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

The person who set up the workflow approval forgot to add the project name (so the approver doesn't know what project they are approving).  I've tried adding the project field to the workflow approval list but this only updates about a handful of projects.  I suspect that part of the problem is that they haven't published their projects.

Doing this manually will be a problem as there are about 700 of these and the total number of projects is about 3,000.

    Any thoughts or ideas?

    Many thanks

  • James,

It would be helpful to get some more details on this.

    1) How did you build the workflow? SharePOint Designer or a third party tool.

    2) Where did you add the Project Name Field? to the approval list as a column? If yes, then the workflow needs to have a step to update the project name. Is that step happening before or after the approval?

Please give us some more details so that we can help.

  • James--

If you think that you would need to publish all projects, you may use a PowerShell script or use the free Bulk Publish app.
