Project Site creation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all.

Trying to setup and use Project Server 2016 from a PMO point of view. I come from a PPM vendor background so my expectations are a little clouded by what I would expect to have to setup. As far as I know, we have a vanilla, out of the box setup. We have an Enterprise team populated by AD.

I have created an Enterprise Project and one of the options is to click on the Project site however, I always get the 'There is no site configured for this project' message - so how can I create one?

Any help or simple step by step guides to assist getting my head around the Project would be ideal. The ms guides don't help much. I need to build a mental model in order for me to understand where to go.

In simple terms, I want to:

    • Create a Project, (and a site)
    • Assign resource, (perhaps do that request process later on but for now let’s just assign)
    • Create task(s) with expected hrs
    • Assign resource to tasks
    • Check they get alerts AND can access the Project/Task(s)
    • Get resource to update task progress, using hrs worked, hrs remaining and/or % complete

    • Report Project status using default reports
    • Report Resource capacity vs assignments

    Thanks in advance.
