The DPM service terminated unexpectedly RRS feed

  • Question

  • every day at 12 am the dpm service restarts and gives me a sql error in the event viewer

The description for Event ID 945 from source MSDPM cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

Unable to connect to the DPM database because of a general database failure.  Make sure that SQL Server is running and that it is configured correctly.

    Problem Details:

  • Hi,

This appears to be a crash associated with summary manager process trying to remove a DPM volume.  Did you migrate any data sources or disks lately using the MigrateDatasourceDataFromDPM.ps1

In any case, DPMDB has an inconsistency and recommend that you open a support case to help clean it up.
