  • Hi Gayam,

In SharePoint Online, the Auditing for “Opening or downloading documents, viewing items in lists, or viewing item properties” is not available. If you want to monitor download/view events for all files in SharePoint online server, you could use write a Http Module that look at the request URL and if the prefix of the request match the URLs of document libraries, then capture that download/view. Sort, filter, and analyze the data to determine who has done.

  • Hi Gayam,

This is totally possible, please follow the steps below:

    1)  login to https://portal.office.com/
    2) Go to security and complicance from tile or  https://protection.office.com/
    3) Click on reports and view reports
    4) Enable office 365 audit log reports
    4) Check the command Search-adminAuditLog(https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff459250(v=exchg.160).aspx, think it only supports office 365)

If that is not not possible you have to download and manually process it, Take a look at the site collection audit as well that would help if you change the trimming to every 10 or 20 days. Then you can generate report based on that.(download the csv file and process it)

Please read about in details here:

  • Hi Linda,

Can we deploy Http module for office 365, as far as I understood it was not possible. If Microsoft started to allow it this is a great news. Can you provide more details.

    Thanks & Regards, Balu
