Unable to open Project from Project Server 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

When i try to open a project in Microsoft Project Professional (2007) I got the following error:

An unexpected error occurred during command execution
    - verify that all argument names and values are correct and
    are of the correct type.
    - you may have run out of memory. To free up available
memory, close programs, projects, or windows that you
    aren't using.

I'm connected with Project Server 2007. And I get this error only by one project. The other projects i can open normaly.

    What could this be?

    Thanks,
    Jeroen van Eijk

  • Jeroen, it sounds like a corrupt project. Are you able to open it using a different PC? It's possible that your local cached version is corrupt but the draft version on the server is OK. Or that the published version is OK. Try opening each of these specifically and see where the problem occurs.

Like Graham, I would strongly suspect this project is corrupted.  Since you can see it in PWA when you click the project name in the Project Center, it sounds like the corruption might be isolated to the Draft database.  If you absolutely cannot open it in Microsoft Project 2007, then what I would recommend is that you have your Project Server administrator restore the most recent backup from the Archive database.  That assumes, however, that your administrator is using the Administrative Backup feature in Project Server.  Hope this helps.

  • Hi Graham,

    Thanks for your reply!

I cannot open this project on a different computer.

But I can open the project in the PWA (in the browser). So the project should not be corrupt..

    Regards,
    Jeroen
