APP-V 5 + Citrix UPM is it common to add e.g. UE-V 2.1 for app settings? RRS feed

  • Hi sorry if this is the wrong forum to ask this question.

I saw this blog post recommending using the use of a UEM.

Do many customers that use Citrix UPM compliment it with UE-V . For use in pooled VDI.

  • In my experience from working with various customers. No.

I think it has it's benefits over competing products like from RES, AppSense etc. Obviously cost wise, it's much cheaper since most already own it. Particularly now that MDOP is completely free to SA customers. But there's a huge feature gap when comparing UE-V to competitors products.

Personally, I like UE-V when coupled with App-V and a layering technology like Unidesk. They work very well together for getting pooled Non-Persistent Desktops. But to re-iterate. I have not seen a lot of UE-V in the wild. There's a UE-V template for App-V Publishing which is worth looking at, if do go down that route. My favorite tool for an App-V Deployment is RES Workspace and Automation manager. I used that at a previous employers and thought it was amazing. It really made App-V shine.
