battery not detected on a 1545 Inspiron that get a new battery RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have tried to uninstall the Microsoft ACPI -Compliant control method battery the battery icon disappers, and laptop is not getting charged. This is a Dell 1545 Inspiron with Win Vista.

after I reboot the laptop the battery not detected icon comes back. I have tried different Dell charger thinking it could be the charger, but that did not help either.

If it's a mother board issue then would the laptop still work with battery not detected message and charger plugged in?

please help resolve this, and let me know if any other troubleshooting I can try.

    thanks,

  • Just tested mine, 1545 will work with battery not detected (or connected) and charger as sole means of power.

  • MP.  BTW sometimes a BIOS upgrade will fix that.  I believe the current version is A10.  Be sure to have a backup and do it according to MFR's instructions
