Outlook 2013 - The connection to Exchange is unavailable RRS feed

    I realise this is an Outlook issue - but I already posted in their forum and I was sent here.

    Basically, I get this message when trying to use Outlook 2013 on Windows 8 to a single internal Exchange 2010 server. The client is a member of the same domain as exchange (now - also tried when not). The settings I have a re all "normal" and the same as my Outlook 2010 on Windows 7. there is only one domain controller present, logons to shares on the DC, Exchange server all work. DNS is fine etc.

    Given that there is no other message from outlook and thus far nobody in outlook 2013 seems to know whether outlook actually does something different (e.g. uses SSL or something) I was wondering if anyone here has any ideas?

    Specifically, if you have any idea what the message might mean that might be clue.

    hi,

    Per my understanding, now your outlook 2010 on win7 can work fine, is it right?  Only outlook 2013 on win8 can't work. It seems that your exchange server has no problem. If i am wrong, please feel free to tell me.

    Can you do below test to narrow down the issue?

    Run outllook 2013 on win7, if it can work i think you have some problem about your win8 or network connection.

    Then you should first check your network, or post your issue on win8 forum.

    if the Computer (where outlook is installed) that you are trying to access the exchange is already joined to the domain, normally.. no configurations are required.

    anyway,

    check -

    1) are you able to ping the exchange using that PC?

    2) if you are outside the organisation, maybe your configuration for outlook anyway input is wrong?

    3) disable your PC firewall and try whether its the firewall issue.
