Getting rid of Project Site dialog box in Project Pro RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

In my current enviro (PS2010), the project sites are created programatically only for a FEW key projects. The provisioning mode for project sites is set to manual.

Everything works fine as long as users are in the PWA. As soon as they publish new projects via Project pro they are prompted with a dialog box that allwos them to create a project site.

I realized if 'Manage SharePoint Foundation' permissions was denied for PM's then the dialog box no longer interferes with pro. However as a counter action each time with project is published I get warning messages in the Queue with Job State - 'Failed but blocking correlation'. Also when I click on error details I see the error - 'User does not have permisssion to create WSS Site..........'

Any ideas of how can I prevent this queue error/warning and yet get rid of project site dialog.

    Appreciate your help.

    Thanks

    Meeta

  • Meeta,

I was asked the same question previously when posted on this topic on my blog, and as far as i can tell after research, there is NO out-of-the box way to remove the dialog box, other than taking away the permission, and letting the queue messages populate.

May be others have input on this.

  • Hi there,

For clients that wanted to remove the project site creation dialog box, we created a macro with custom publish button, the macro suppressed the dialog box.

    Thanks
