SharePoint Trial License has expired RRS feed

  • I had this error few months ago "The trial period for this product has expired" few months ago, and reentering the product key in SharePoint Central Administration solved the issue. 

    I just experienced the same issue again this morning, and cause the production system to be down. Although reentering the license key again solved the issue, I need to prevent this to happen again because it's production system. There is no software update or anything happens few days before. I also have checked through some blog post, like http://mindsharpblogs.com/ben/archive/2006/09/23/1299.htm previously, but it still happenned. Any idea how to check further so that this issue won't happen again.

    As far as I know, The product expiration date is activated incorrectly when you install 2007 Microsoft Office servers Service Pack 2. For more information about it, check out this article.

    In addition, there is a known issue with McAfee portal shield 2.0, if you installed it, please installed SP1 for Portal Shield 2.0 and correct folder exclusions per KB 952167.

    Thank you for the answer. However, we have installed the Service Pack 2 more than 1 year ago. We are not using McAffee, and since the system was built more than a year ago, we have used Symantec.

    There was no patch or update prior to this expiration issue. After we re-activate the license, it seems OK now, but we need to prevent this from happening again.  Any advice?
