Acer Aspire Laptop Windows 7 Home Premium; Keep getting Windows Update Error Code 8024402F RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an Acer Aspire Laptop that I am getting very frustrated with. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. My son had this laptop origianlly and got so frustrated he just stuck in the top of his closet for a few years. Now I'm needing a computer and he gave me the laptop. I have researched and done so many different things I'm ready to pull my hair out. I decided to make sure everything was backed up and ran the eRecovery Program on here from Acer back to the Factory Default settings. I have uninstalled the McAfee Security Suite and added VIPRE Antivirus Home. I also uninstalled Bing Bar (I have no use for it), newsXpresso (no use for it), Norton Online Backup, Times Reader. I tried to do a manual update for Windows and I'm still getting that error code. Please help.

  • Hi JennaMc,

Error code 8024402F can be caused by poor internet connection or antispyware.

Let’s try to following the next steps to troubshoot the issue.
    1. Run the command “sfc /scannow” with administrator right to check the health of system files.
    2. Disable firewall and antivirus temporarily.
    3. Untick all proxy options (Internet Explorer\Internet Option\Connections\LAN settings\uncheck all the check box)
    4. Perform a Clean Boot following the document and manually update again.

    5. Reset your Windows update components

If the issue persists, we could check the windowsupdate.log (search it directly) if update packages are not downloaded successfully. Or check CBS.log(C:\Windows\Logs\CBS) if the error occurred during the installing process.
If you have troubles in analyzing the log, please upload the log to OneDrive and paste the link here.

    Best regards,
    Joy.

  • Thank you for your prompt response. I downloaded and ran the windows update troubleshooter.

    Results were:

Any advice or ideas why they aren't installing?
