PWA Project Center - Project Information: This Web Part was unable to load. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi!
After migrating from Project Server 2007 to Project Server 2010 I am not able to open the Project Information in PWA of all migrated Projects. I receive the following error message:

This Web Part was unable to load.

Information that may be useful in solving this problem was written to the Unified Logging Service (ULS) log on the Project Server with the following ID:

  • Hi!

    I just resolved the issue!
I deleted the PWA Service Application and just created it again.
As I opened clicked on the project in the project center, the issue changed: it sayed: Unable to open project, no valid Project Detail Page could be found for the project.

Now this information was something to do with. I just defined the Project Detail Page in the Server Settings --> Enterprise Project Types. Now everything works fine!

    Kind regards,
    Gerald

  • Gerald,

Try deleting this webpart from the page and readding it. That did it for us.

  • Hi!

Thanks for your response! I did remove and add the webpart but it didn't change anything.

Since the exception happens at ObtainCategoryPermissions I think it has something to do with permissions. I have also another thread running because I am not able to edit any user in "Manager Users".

    Kind regards,

    Gerald

  • Hi!

I corrected my user editing problem, but I am still not able to open a project in the PWA.

Still the following error shows up in the log:

Exception Web Part Exception Unique ID: 21980883-21c9-47d1-bc5f-202be5ed0109 System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.     at Microsoft.Office.Project.PWA.WebParts.ProjectFieldPartBase.ObtainCategoryPermissions()

    Any ideas?

    Kind regards,

    Gerald

  • Hello Gerald

Do you recall if the user accounts migrated, where old 2003 Project Accounts.  Make sure that the project server accounts have been added to site users from within SharePoint.

    Cheers

  • Hi Michael!

    Thanks for your reply!

We never were on Project Server 2003, we initially started with Project Server 2007. The Project Server Accounts are site users on PWA if that's what you meant. Also the Project Server Service Account (this account is Web Administrator actually).

I am running out of ideas.
Right now I am re-provisioning the whole project server site to see if it's an unfortunate accident.

    Kind regards,

    Gerald

Could this be a related problem:
Template Discovery/InitScriptData: cannot get user profile, no UserProfileApplicationProxy exists in the current context

    ?

    kind regards,
