SP Export to Excel - Data Missing Issue RRS feed

  • Hello,

       We are running SharePoint with the Bug Database template.

       When displaying an view of all bugs, we have a column called 'Comments'.  The Comments field is a multiple lines of text field with the option to append changes to existing text selected. 

       As a result of the column having the append option, in the view there is just a link titled 'View Entries' that when clicked, takes you to the bug.

       When you export to spreadsheet, the comments field does not contain the comments because of the appending.

       If we choose not to append, so the text box is one continuous field when being updated, then this is not an issue for viewing or exporting to spreadsheet.  However, this allows the user to edit past entries which we do not want.

       Any recommendations on how to export to spreadsheet with the expanded content of the comments field; or alternatively, any recommendation to have the field set up without the append option, but have some security to prevent editing of past text entries (guessing this one is not possible)?

    It is a by design behavior, Datasheet view/Export to spreadsheet was never designed to view the version history of a specific column.
