Windows Recommended Update Claims to Improve Performance, but Actually Cuts It RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Be aware:  Yesterday's Recommended Windows Update for Windows 7:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2670838

Per information on the page linked-to above (emphasis mine):

This update improves the features and performance of the following components:

    • Direct2D
    • DirectWrite
    • Direct3D
    • Windows Imaging Component (WIC)
    • Windows Advanced Rasterization Platform (WARP)
    • Windows Animation Manager (WAM)
    • XPS Document API
    • H.264 Video Decoder
    • JPEG XR codec

Performance measurement says otherwise - the update actually cut the performance of Direct2D by almost 25%
