Asked by:
Dynamic suite Composition, Adobe Indesign plus Q2ID

Question
-
Hi All,
I am unable to dynamically suite both these applications( Adobe Indesign + Q2ID)
Method 1:
These are the steps I followed:
1. Sequenced Adobe Indesign separately
2. Sequenced Q2ID separately
3. Created Packages, application for both( Adobe Indesign + Q2ID) in server
4. Used the Dynamic Suite Composition Tool to combine both the packages.
5. After Combining, I tried to launch the application in client, the following error occurred
"The system cannot find the file specified"
Note: Followed the best practice, installed adobe Indesign and then sequenced Q2ID
When I sequenced separately I was able to launch the Q2ID application
this method didn't work, so tried another method
Method 2:
I manually edited the .osd files, but still am getting the same error.
Method 3:
Here is the another method which I followed during sequencing,
1. Sequenced Adobe Indesign, without giving stop monitoring I started the Q2ID installation,
after installation when tried to launch the application, got the following error
"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect "
Please suggest me with your ideas,
also correct my mistakes
regards,
RAJAN

Hello,
So, how did you setup the DSC?

Thanks for your reply
We followed two methods,
1. DSC Tool
2. Manually Edited .osd File
1.Using DSC tool, we selected Adobe Indesign as primary package and Q2ID as secondary package,
and then saved, the changes are automatically made in all the respective .osd files.
2. Steps followed while manually editing the .osd
Just edited these codes,
HREF
GUID
SYSGUARDFILE
and gave Mandatory=true

Hello,
I would verify that the user has access to the package or that the updated OSD-file is actually beeing used by the client.
If you can not access the secondary package from within the primary package - the suite is not functional.

Hello,
Here is a good way to check if what you are doing is right;http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/7/8/F784A197-73BE-48FF-83DA-4102C05A6D44/App-46_Sequencing_Guide_Final.docx
See chapter 10, specifically for section 10.2 to verify your steps.
I was not wondering if you could launch Adobe Indesign (you never stated it as a problem earlier), but more if you could access files (such as opening them or viewing them) from the secondary package. Can you browse to the secondary package?
Are there any files in there you can access?
/ZnackWednesday, December 8, 2010 5:34 PM -

Hello,
http://blogs.technet.com/b/appv/archive/2009/03/26/how-app-v-uses-your-system-drive.aspx
Check the Global Data Directory OSD-cache and locate the file corresponding to your application to check the contents
