Group by Assigned To in Task List in SharePoint 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

    Yet another question...

Why isn't 'Assigned to' field available in the 'Group By' list?

Such a handy functionality to group task list by.

Any idea how it can be achieved?

    Thanks!

    SJ

  • Hi,

According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to group by Assigned To in Task List in SharePoint 2013.

By default the Assigned To allows multiple selections that will not allow you to group by. Just set allow multiple selections to No and then you will be able to Group By Assigned To.

In addition, you can create a text column and group by it. You need to auto-populated it using infopath(add rule to set value) or workflow(set filed in current item).

Or you need to custom the web part programming. You can use SPGridView and DataTable  to group by Assigned To.

    Thanks,

    Linda Li

  • Hi SJ, some columns aren't available for the grouping feature. You could auto populate a text column with the person's name in the assigned to column and then group by the text column.
