Menu DWM "artifacts" RRS feed

  • Question

After I installed SP1 every once in a while a menu or context menu item will leave a semi-transparent version of itself painted on top of everything else when it is clicked. Killing the dwm.exe process will clear the artifact. DWM immediately starts back up and everything is fine. There does not seem to be any correlation between my current actions and the glitch. The artifact is purely a visual item. It is completely transparent to mouse clicks, or any other type of event.

My video drivers are out of date (ATI Catalyst 7.8) but only because any of the newer ones have been completely killing off DWM. So, this could be ATI's fault.  However, this symptom only started after I installed SP1.

    Here are some screenshots:

I get these "artifacts" also, but I have not installed SP1.  I get rid of them by resizing my screen.
